New York, New York, Mechanics Bank, $1, June 9, 1862, NY-1720-G210b, this bank became a national bank just a few years after this note was issued leaving very few of its genuine notes unredeemed, seated mechanic and standing woman with caduceus at center, arm and hammer at left, women in ovals and NY state seal at left, horse at bottom between signatures, this is a rare, genuine note with striking red end panels, bright and vivid, these have not faded at all, three heavy vertical folds and small edge and internal tears limit the grade of this note to fine, although the appearance is at least a full grade higher.
